Marseille Mastermind New Infrastructure Beyond La Commanderie
In an exclusive interview with La Provence, the Marseille chief executive outlined a strategic shift toward internal player development. Richard emphasized that lower domestic TV rights revenue in France compared to other elite European leagues forces Ligue 1 clubs to maximize their youth academies as primary commercial and sporting drivers.
The ambitious project involves constructing a brand-new, modern training complex because the current historic site, La Commanderie, no longer boasts the capacity to house both the professional first-team and the youth academy concurrently. The strategic shift requires an initial capital investment estimated at several tens of millions of euros.

"A large, modern training center accompanied by significant investment is fundamental for the future of the club," Richard stated during the interview. "We have started working on several scenarios. There are still steps to take and funding to secure, but this is vital to build our future foundation."
As part of this long-term restructuring, academy director Titou Hasni has signed a crucial contract extension to oversee the youth pipeline. Furthermore, general manager Stefano Petruzzo is accelerating the strategic growth of the women's football section, ensuring the club's comprehensive modernization aligns with future European qualification standards.
