Mauritanian Shot-Stopper Diop Ready for Ligue 1 Challenge
AJ Auxerre have secured the services of towering goalkeeper Mamadou Diop from Ligue 2 side Grenoble. The 26-year-old shot-stopper was one of the most heavily scouted profiles in French football this summer, attracting serious interest from several top-flight clubs before ultimately deciding to join the historic Burgundy-based outfit.
The Mauritanian international has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Auxerre after a standout campaign in the lower division. Standing at an imposing 2.04 meters tall, Diop arrives to provide immediate competition for current first-choice goalkeeper Donovan Leon and his primary backup Theo De Percin.

"I feel immense pride because I am incredibly happy to join AJ Auxerre. This is a massive milestone in my career, and signing for such a historic club makes me very proud," Diop stated.
Diop becomes Auxerre's fourth major signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Arthur Piedfort from Westerlo, Danny Namaso from Porto, and Romain Faivre on another loan spell.
